I am having a little trouble tracking the issue my 2003 Malibu is currently having. Basically it's giving my hard start issues. To start it whether engines warm or cold, I have to pump the gas while turning the key. When it starts it's idles high for the first 10 seconds or so and calmest down. It will also stall out if I try to put it in a gear to drive it too soon. Last but not least, I noticed just today that after I got gas it seemed to run even worse. I do not have any check engine light or and codes to be found with a scanner. Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated. I've also searched all over and haven't found anything that would match all symptoms I'm getting. TPS is also new. I was thinking maybe MAF or purge valve solenoid.

What is the fuel pressure when it is delayed starting? When it has sat over night, remove the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator and check for fuel in the line or leaking out of the nipple on the regulator. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Checked the vacuum line this morning. Fuel did not come out but.you could smell it heavily as soon as I removed the line.

With the vacuum line from the regulator removed. Plug the end of the line with something. Then start the engine and let it run for at least 10 minutes. See if fuel starts leaking out of the regulator nipple. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Seems like your fuel pressure regulator doesn't have a ruptured diaphragm, so that is eliminated. It might be time to connect up a fuel pressure gauge and see what the pressure is doing when it is hard starting. Also watch the fuel pressure bleed off rate when the pump is turned off after the system is primed up. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I just replaced the mass air flow sensor. Hasn't test drove it but it's starting up 1000x better. It's still revving up high for a quick second and then right to then 500-600. Haven't actually test drove it yet to see about the other issues. Hoping them are fixed as well.
