Best thing to do when you are adding important info is to add a reply and not edit, this way the thread gets a "new flag" on it & someone will jump in. If you like me, always fixing my posts so I don't sound like the okie that I am, then edit is the way to go, no flags just fixes. I'll delete your other thread & we'll keep everything on this one for this particular problem...

With the info you provided I would be checking the exhaust for a restriction. Get a vacuum gauge & compare idle & high rpm vacuum, if the high rpm is way low, you are probably looking at a plugged cat. If you have a backpressure gauge, you can check backpressure to make sure it's under 2lbs. One way to confirm the problem would be to take out the frt O2 sensor or loosen the cat at the manifold and see if that makes it run better.....

If you are reving it up in park/neutral the rev limiter kicks in around there.

This is where you need to take vacuum & backpressure readings before & after, that will tell you if disconnecting the cat has actually made a difference or if there is even a problem in the exhaust.

If you can secure the cat a quick drive will tell if you can get it over 20mph & that is has it's power back... i wouldn't go to far just due to the noise
