A little more info would be helpful. How fast it takes to overheat? If it will overheat just sitting there or has to be driven? Is the check engine light on? How many miles are on the car? Is it losing coolant?

A easy DIY repair would be to change out the thermostat. You could check it 1st. Put it in pot of water on the stove and see if it opens at the point the water starts to boil. It should actually open just before the water boils but definitely be open once it does boil......

You may also want to get the codes pulled, it may give you some insight on the idle problem....

It doesn't over heat real fast but doesn't take long to warm up.The check enigine light is not on.There is no leaks that I can see.It has not got to the red on the temp control it goes to about the 3/4th mark.when I run the heater that brings the temp down.

Please don't duplicate questions. It gets very confusing for everyone.

It's possible the radiator is getting restricted this would account for it running warmer but not the high idle. It's also possible you have a head gasket problem....... You didn't answer my question on if there is any coolant loss. Coolant loss & a leak is actually 2 different things...

Just due to the few different problems going on, it might be a good idea to take this in and have it check by a shop....
