Hi, have a 2003 jeep liberty 3.7 V6 Start up and then shuts down. Finally got it to stay running but runs rough now. Any solutions? Engine light won't go off either.

Was there any recent repair work done to this? Can you give us a little bit of history before this problem started or what lead up to it? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Yes I did. Said it was a small vacuum leak problem. I checked some hose's around the intake and air filter. I found some dry rotted hoses and replaced them. The engine light still stay's on.

No there wasn't. Well yes, I did some hose replacements around the air filter and fuel injector. That's what I got from the code readout I got. Engine light still on. I haven't checked the hose yet around the fuel tank area. Nasty weather now and trying to wait for some good weather to lay under and check there.

There are no codes that tell you to replace or repair any specific component. They merely inform you of something that occurred in a specific circuit and it's up to the tech to determine what the cause was. You need to post the specific code numbers being set now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

OK thanks. I'll check it again and give you the code. I don't have the jeep with me today at work. Thanks for your help.

That code has nothing to do with vacuum leaks or even engine performance in any way.

So what does it mean? I read most things about it and it could be about anything to do with the emissions from the car. Including the gas cap. I replaced it and it still stays on.

The fuel tank and all it's lines are an air tight system to prevent fuel vapors from going into the atmosphere and yours has a small vapor leak ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Ya, I know. But the thing is where? I'll try by the gas tank where the charcoal canister is and some lines. This is just blowing my mind trying to find a small vacuum leak! Kinda wish it was a big leak! then I could probably find it. Thanks Hammer Time. Hope santa was good to you and your family!! Happy New Year bro!

One more time................... This is not a vacuum leak and it is not effecting the engine operation in any way so if you have a driveability problem, look elsewhere.
