Alright. I will try my best to describe the problem, and give you my theory.
I have a 2003 hyundai accent, basic 2 door hatch back model, with the I 4 engine. It has about 67k miles on the odo, and most all the parts are origonal. I have finally come across a problem that I cannot understand.
If you drive the car for a while, say across town, and turn it off, it won't start. It will turn over as normal but just not start. You have to wait about 20 minutes before it will start again. Short distances do not cause this problem, but longer distances do. This had just started doing this. There is no engine light warning. I pretty much always run the car on empty, and read an article about fuel pumps, saying they can malfunction that way, and not respond, because they get hot, and kind of ceaze up, idicating that they are about to expire. The car runs fine right now, but has this mystery starting problem. Took it to the mechanic, who could do nothing unless the car wouldn't start. The car started for them, because it wasn't driven long enough to cause the problem to accur.
Anyone know what might be wrong?

You may have answered your own question. Running close to empty on fuel is hard on fuel pump. It seems this is intermittent so may show ok in testing pressure but it might fail when hotter with the low fuel. Fuel does help keep them cooler and prolong life of pumps when not run low,
