2002 suburban Sign In

I have a 2002 Chev.Suburban1500 W/5.3 F.I.v8. It has aprox.85,000 mi. The problem I'm having is moderate hesitation during Ideling to extrem hesitation during acceleration to the point of stalling. I've replaced the fule filter but it hase'nt helped mutch.PS this is a farily resent problem.
I'm thinking it mite be the EGR valve. What do you think?

An EGR problem you would notice more @ Idle than on acceleration. Is your check engine light on? If so that would be a good place to start, see what code it's giving you....

has the truck had a tune up yet? A bad plug wire could cause rough idle and get worse on acceleration.

Doesn't this engine put a coil on top of each plug - meaning no traditional plug wires?

Even the coil on plug systems still use a plug wire on these.

This sounds more like a problem with the Mass Air Flow sensor. Sometimes you can try unplugging it and let it go to default settings and see if it runs better to determine if the sensor is at fault.

The fuel pressure is the other thing you want to check. A loss of just a couple pounds of pressure can do that also.
