When trying to put gas in the tank the pumps safety overflow keeps shutting pump off.
The gas doesn't come splashing back but can't get any gas in.
Can't see anything in neck of gas tank.

Have the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) system checked for blockage. The EVAP system is designed to contain fuel tank fumes, until the fumes can be directed to the engine and be burnt. A line could be collapsed/blocked or possibly the computer controlled vent solenoid is stuck closed; stopping air flow?
As for what you can check; is to follow all the lies & hoses that you can see; that are attached to the fuel tank and vent system. If you can’t see anything wrong at that point; I would suggest taking the car in; EVAP issues can be a bugger to find; without test equipment.
