2002 Ford Taurus engine light and puseing in engine Sign In

I have a 2002 Ford taurus. When the weather is cold (around 10 degrees) the engine jumps and pulses pretty hard. In not as cold weather it does still do this(20 to 45 degrees) In warm weather the car does not do this. The car doesn't have great acceleration while trying to to start driving because of the pulsing but after about 200 feet or so of driving the engine stops pulsing and the car begin to drive normaly and accelerate much better. Occationaly at intersections or stops the pulsing starts up again but not as strong as upon startup. The engine light is on and i have read the codes there where 4 codes. the first PO352 Ignition coil B Primary/Secondary Circuit malfunction, PO303 Cylinder 3 misfire detected, PO304 Cylinder 4 Misfire detected, and PO316 Misfire Detected 1st 1000 Revs. I tried replaceing the ignition coil, spark plugs, and wires. This did not work. I have also reasently replaced a cracked PCV hose. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?

Which engine? Look at the 8th digit of the VIN. Is it a S or U?

It's the U engine.

Do you have a spark tester? If you can get an adjustable inline tester like the one in the picture below, that would be great.

If it does have an ignition related misfire, you really shouldn't drive the vehicle anymore because it will melt the catalytic converter substrate.

If you have an inline tester like that one. Check for spark for all the cylinders when the problem is happening. Take note of the cylinders that are missing spark.

Usually if you have a primary ignition coil circuit code, you will have misfiring. The primary circuit code means the PCM isn't seeing a complete circuit for one of the primary ignition coil circuits. In this case it is for ignition coil B. It could be a wiring problem, open in the coil primary winding (unlikely if you replaced coil), or computer driver issue.

First thing is to verify that you have spark.
