2002 F250 Superduty

I was driving Sunday and it just started running rough and sputtering. Turned around, went home and replaced plugs(double plat.) and plug boots that connect to coil pack. Replaced fuel filter and replaced pcv valve. Put inbottle of fuel injector cleaner, and test drove. Still the same problem. Ohmed out the coil packs and injectors, and they were all within range of one another. As I said its a 2002 F250 superduty 4x4 with 5.4L, auto trans w/overdrive. 125,000 miles, split between local and highway driving. It idles ok, misses once in a while at idle. Misses like crazy upon steady acceleration. If I punch it, it takes off like a jackrabbit, no misses felt. once I let off the gas to cruise, back to miss firing. Any ideas?

Check out for vacuum elbows gone bad on this engine. I don't recall exactly what engine but an Expedition came my way once and needed all of them! Soft and one with a full blown hole. Worth checking out,

If it is the 5.4L 3 valve engine, Ford has an extended warranty on the injectors. Call your local Ford dealer with the VIN and they can tell you if it is covered. Or, if you wish, you can post the entire VIN here or send me an e-mail with the VIN and I can run it for you. Your choice. I think it is covered up to 150,000 miles. Not really sure on the mileage. I run Vista here at home and it does not play well with Ford's fleet site. Will look tomorrow when I get to the shop.

Well, I checked the vac hoses and couldn't find any leaks. Thanks for letting me know about the warranty on the injectors. The vin is1FTNF21LX2EA43792. If I can't figure this out in the next few days, I'm just going to bring it in to the dealer.

I could not find anything on your particular vehicle. You need it hooked to a scanner thatcan detect which cylinder is missing and more than likely it will show up. Problem with that is usually only the dealer has the tool that can monitor the cylinders while you are driving. If you are close to Lexington, I can check it for ya.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the responses I've gotten. Just amazing! I'm in the south suburbs of Chicago, but thanks for the offer anyway. I'll bring it in to the dealer and see if they can't fix it. I'll post again when I know the cause of the problem.
