My 2001 1.8t jetta, while driving random speeds will all of a sudden have no gas pressure even while keeping the gas pedal depressed. This usually will last for around 10 seconds while the car decreases MPH. Then I will downshift to the appropriate gear while still trying to give it gas and then it just seems to catch and I have gas again and I keep on driving. A few times it has died but I was able to start it right back up while I was still rolling and then drive on. I replaced my fuel pump that went out 2 weeks ago and the problem didn't return until yesterday. I bought the car used and the problem is intermittent. It never throws an engine code. Help...

You're going to have to monitor the fuel pressure while you're driving to find out if it's a fuel issue or not. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
