2001 ford zx2 lost power

2001 ford zx2 lost power Sign In

ok so i was going down th freeway at 60 when my car lost power it would't acclerator or rev up at all then the check engine soon light and the oil and battery light came on at the same time. so now the car won't turn over but it will grind. the car has 112,000 mile on it and its a 2001 ford zx2 2.0L DOHC

Start with the basics. Get the battery tested. If it turns out to be drained or bad, get that fixed and then the charging system will need to be tested. If the battery is good then the starting system will need to be looked at so you can get the motor to turn over so you can diag the no start....

Sounds like it just died on you going down the road and that's why all the lights came on but it wouldn't hurt to get the codes pulled.....

There might be a little confusion with the terminology he's using. I'm guessing it is cranking but not firing and then I'd guess a timing belt as the cause.
Those things have a ton of problems with the lower idler pulley for the timing belt.

Yea the "grinding" part kinda thru me to....... Made me think the alt went out, he drove it until it killed the battey & now the starter is just clicking.
