it sort of surges like its going to die or something, i thought it only happend when i would press the gas, but it did it when i started the car. i dont know what it is, can anyone help?

There is literally hundreds of things that can cause that from a simple vacuum leak to a bad PCM.
If the check engine light is on then get the codes pulled and start from there....
