2001 ford focus won't start	Sign In

this started happening a couple weeks ago. when I'd try to turn the car on all the lights and radio will come on but the car will just click. the battery seemed fine so someone suggested it may be the started and to get someone to give it a jump. we had someone hook up the cables and as soon as the cables were hooked up we turned the car on and it started up right away, didn't have to wait or anything. it happend again about a week later but this time it took longer for it to start up when we got a jump. and today it's happening again. all the lights and radio will turn on just fine but the car will not start and it keeps clicking. I tried cleaning the battery today and still no luck. any help?

You can't go by the lights in the dash or radio. Starter motor takes a massive amount of power and little lights are diddle.

You should check out the charging system that it is working properly. If battery is over 3-4 year old just get a good new one. That car should be on its third about now! Bet it's original

and you got caught. It's serious stuff as a really failed battery can wipe out your alternator and do some big bucks in harm to other things too. Hit back if you want to test your own charging system,

I had just gotten the car last year from a friend and foolish me for not checking that sooner. yes it's been the same battery since 2001 so I'll go ahead and get a new one.
