Car came into shop not running, guy had it sitting 8+ months. Stopped driving it because it was 'running bad'. Car had issues so I put a new timing chain, plugs & wires, water pump, valve cover gasket. Then car would crank & run bad & shut off, giving code (cam shaft position sensor & map sensor code) ... checked compression came back good readings and then blew air back into cylinder & it was blewing back out two of the intake values on 3 & 4 pulled the head & had the valves re-done & found crack over the ring on cylinder/pistion #4, replaced pistions (all four) and car still won't run. It will crank & run for a minute & it's like it's misfiring & it will die. If you try to re-crank it it acts like it is flooded & won't crank. Car isn't giving any codes now.

I would do leak down test.. was the timing off when you changed the chain??.. they are a interference engine I believe. did you check possibility of bad crank sensor too? when it won't fire check and see if there is spark.

Yes, the timing was off. Replaced the crank sensor too. Pulled the wire off the coil pack & it's getting spark there. Haven't re-done the leak down test again since we replaced the valves.

Might be a damaged valve seat or crack possibly.. did you have the head penetrate dyed or pressure tested for cracks?..
