When I started the car it made a loud whistling noise and when I hit the gas It got louder. When I tired to put it into neutral it made a loud grinding noise for 10secs then stopped. Then I put it back into park it made the same noise shortly after the car stalled and now won't start. What could this be? A Ford mechanic said it could be the starter but that doesn't sound right. Please help

The noise you describe sounds like a vacuum leak......need to check trans fluid color....a grinding sound from tran always a bad sign....try putting in neutral and cranking

What happens when you try to start the vehicle? Does the engine crank / turn over ? Not crank?

Just a thought here. From the noises you describe, sounds like possibly something locked up (like the alternator) and from the tension of the serpentine belt is keeping the engine from turning over. Again ,Just a thought.. Easy way to tell, take off the serpentine belt off and see if it turns over....if so,then shut it off and spin all the pulleys and and see what locked up.. >> BEFORE <<<< it stalled out,Did any warning light(s)come on ?
