2001 Kia Sportage fuel pump Sign In

I am currently repairing a 2001 Kia Sportage, 2.0L. I currently can't get the engine to start and I believe that the fuel pump may be the issue. However, I don't know how to test the fuel pump. The car has been sitting almost a year, so I first changed the oil and put new gas in it. I also changed out the battery, and the fuel pump relay. The engine tries to start, but sounds like it is getting no fuel.

You hook up a fuel pressure gauge and make sure the pump is receiving power and ground when cranking.

I have determined that the fuel pump is the problem. I have a new question. Do I need to replace the whole fuel pump assembly with something like this links not allowed

If the pump is the culprit, you need to replace the whole module as the one you had linked earlier.
