My wife's 2001 For Windstar (3.8L and 80,000 miles) was running very well after we invested nearly $1300 to get it in good shape. The first time I noticed a new issue was after running the vehicle through an automatic carwash. The van sputtered and seemed to have no power when driven home. It also happened to my wife twice after driving home either during or after a rain. After the van sits and "dries out" it runs fine again. What could make the vehicle do this - exposed wiring, a hole somewhere, gremlins? I am no mechanic, but money issues are tight, as with most of us, and if I can find and fix this myself all the better. Any guidance or help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

More then likely it's bad coil pack or sparkplug wire.. Remove the wiper cowel and remove the coil and visually inspect for rust or cracks.
