2001 Ford E-350 doesn't run smooth between 50-60 mph	Sign In

I have a 2001 Ford e-350 superduty extended passenger van (5.4 liter/v8) with about 90,000 miles that is having some issues. This summer we went on an extended trip across country and the van has had oil leak issues, but these issues seemed more severe at certain points of the trip. I added oil as needed. We were also carrying a heavy load with a full van. About half-way home the van started sputtering when at 50-60 mph and in lower gears. When going up hills or accelerating it works fine, but when driving on flat roads it seems to have little power. I have read that it could possibly be a valve issue, but am unsure where to start.

Can anyone give me an opinion on what might be causing this?

Have the computer scanned for codes first and post them here.

I had the codes checked and the only thing that came up was P0306 - 6th cylinder misfire.

I am going to check this and see if there is something up with the plug, but I have a hard time believing it is a cylinder issue if the van runs fine at faster speeds and slower speeds.

You need to find out what's causing the misfire and resolve that. That's likely your whole problem.
