i have a 2000 maxima from off a start it pulls to the left then straightens out once you let off the gas pedal. All the suspension parts seem ok- the wheel alignment is ok - the brakes and ABS system are ok - it was never banged-up at all

Awhile back the transmission was rough shifting out of first gear it turned out to be bad motor mounts-we replaced them with cheap aftermarket parts ( the dealer did not have the factory parts on hand,) a few months ago the rough shifting out of first has returned along with this pulling problem - does anyone think this pulling problem could be caused by bad motor mounts

That is called "Torque steer" and it's very common in FWD cars. Some times it can be tracked down to a mechanical issue and sometimes it just can't be cured. It's a highly technical problem and there are many things that could contribute to it.

Thanks for the answer, but have you ever heard of the motor mounts causing this problem?

Yes, that is one of many possibilities.
