i have 2000 gmc sierra there are only 78,000 km. on a 4.3 lt.v6 since day one whenever it was raining it would start to miss fire i could never see a pattern to it and it always stopped when the road dried out. last monday morning i parked at work[ i drive a truck] went on a short trip came back tuesday night the p.u cranked over
normaly but never sounded like starting i spent all next day checking plugs and sensors found one plug with a bit of corrision cleaned it then somebody said bang the fuel tank it started i drove home. the next day it would not start i can hear fuel pump when i turn the key i checked the relay for fuel pump and all fuses appear to be o.k. what next?

Use a fuel pressure gauge on it. this is a high pressure system that requires a minimum of 55PSI to run. Nothing less is acceptable.

You need to put a gauge on it and check pressure as HT suggested but if banging on the tank got it to start.......Odds are pretty high you have a bad fuel pump

Nobody here said you have a bad fuel pump and you shouldn't be changing it automatically. We said to check the fuel pressure, not change parts.
