2000 ford ranger 4.0 low oil pressure gage

Originally, i had a check gage light come on me 2000 ford ranger, xlt, 4.0 liter. Noticed that the oil pressure gage was showing very low pressure. Checked oil level and it read low. Added oil, checked gage and still reads the same! The check gage light is still on. And the oil pressure gage is flickering when the engine is running.

If the engine isn't making any noises, replace the oil pressure switch and see if this problem is resolved. A bad or leaking switch (sending unit) can cause this and is actually quite common. Steve
