2000 Hyundai engine overheating Sign In

I have a 2000 model Hyundai Grandeur with a 3 ltr 6 cylinder engine. Today I was driving and the engine overheated so I pulled over straight away and turned the engine off and when I popped the hood a small amount of steam/smoke was coming out and some water was spraying up onto the battery case. I took the radiator cap off and it was bone dry. I was about 2 mins from home so I filled it with water and drove it home and it didn't overheat again and didnt run rough. I got home and left it for a while and came back and there was a huge puddle of water and engine coolant on the ground and but it wasnt leaking while I was there but when I opened the radiator cap it started pouring coolant from the bottom of the engine from a cap/screw looking thing at the bottom of the radiator I believe. I checked the oil and it was low but not empty and there was no milky discolouration so I am wondering what it could be. The engine is still quite hot and it has been off for at least and hour and it is making a bubbling noise like boiling water (not badly now but it was bubbling quite bad when it first overheated. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

The first thing you have to do is repair the leak. Then you can determine if any engine damage was done when it overheated. If the coolant is leaking from a part of the radiator, then it likely needs a new radiator but you should have an expert change it.
