2000 Hyundai Sonata - Hesitation on Hills

2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS, V6, Auto, 76K miles. Having problems with hesitation-stumble/power loss primarily when on hills - at any speed. If I downshift to raise rpm's problem goes away - put back into drive and it comes right back. Tried so far: changed the air filter, cleaned the mass air flow sensor, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the pcv valve and it's hose, added fuel injector cleaner to gas tank. Other info - an oxygen sensor was replaced at 71K, speed sensors were replaced at 50K. Thanks for any help you can offer.

It sounds like you have an ignition problem
There is three main problems the sonata has with ignition.
1) Spark plugs - generally if worn or if just recently replaced make sure they are Hyundai original plugs as some non genuine experience the fault you have experienced
2) Coils - remove and look for burn marks around coil
3) Ignition leads if it is type with just two ignition coils - again you will see burn track marks on them - insulate the stems of coils and leads wth insulating tape

Thanks for the info. I checked the plug wires (all 6 lead to a single coil) and coil and did not see any damage or burt issues. The plugs were replaced about 25K ago with Bosh Platinum. I started the car and it was now running rough, and after driving about 1 mile gave check engine message. Went back and checked the code: PO305 - Cylinder 5 Misfire detected. Pulled the plug (not sure of the firing order on this car, but assumed 5th was center plug closest to front of car) and it did not look bad - neither white nor black and oily. If you think this is still ignition problem then I will likely replace all the plugs, then wires, then the coil to try and solve this. If you think something else please let me know, thanks again.
