I have no idea what it possibly can be. It's been hooked to a machine twice and no codes have come back. The problem started about a year ago after a long heat wave and then stopped in the winter. The engine will be racing when you start it up and when shifted into all of the gears, even neutral, and when driven would easily, without touching the gas pedal once, reach 40mph and go past that but sometimes would only reach about 20-25mph. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS TURNED OFF!!! The problem is back and it now seems to also happen if the engine is still warm after driving somewhere and then getting back in to leave too soon. It's going to pepboys tomorrow but I have no idea what to tell them to look at or for. The transmission fluid was checked and it's fine and the van has just had new struts, shocks, front brake pads, and four all new tires installed. And also on Tuesday I turned the car on and it sounded like a whining coming from the engine. When I went to drive it the gears were slipping but the car was accelerating on its own! It's happened again a few more times and its quite scary. Please help!!!

Then you have more than one issue going on there. The engine problem isn't making the trans slip. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
