Stick Valve? Bad Lifters? Rod? Can a fuel injector make this noise (that's where I hear it with Stethoscope). Car runs GREAT! Has much POWER! Idles GREAT. I don't want to put much money into this car so am trying to pinpoint the problem before I begin replacing parts... Can anyone help? All the things you mentioned could cause the problem. If you can't pinpoint it for sure it might not be a bad idea to pay a few bucks to have a trained ear take a quick listen..... I appreciate it. So, can a Fuel Injector make that much noise? Sounds like two ball peen hammers tapping and you can hear it over the motor...when I use the stethoscope, I hear the sound loud and clear on the fuel rail...more so then on that part of the engine. I agree with you on the taking it for a diagnosis...and will follow that advice if I don't hear anything concrete... Thanks again...let me know your thoughts about the fuel injector. Darn car runs terrific and has great power.
