1999 chrysler sebring wont start after turning A/C on

While driving, i turned the air conditioner on, the car started running hot and smoking after a few minutes. The car was making a loud metal on metal sound when starting up, drove poorly for a day and continued to smoke (from under the alternator) after driving for 20 minutes. While Driving home the battery light came on. I made it home, parked, and while parked, i turned the air conditioner on and the car stalled out. The car no longer starts. It turns over once and clicks 3 times but wont start.
I haven't tried to replace anything yet. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
