Car was tampered with one night. Saw the hood had been opened. There was a loose sparkplug wire. No parts are missing. It was done intentionally (I know this), by a very mechanically inclinded person. This person can disable a car in seconds by doing a few minor things that the average person would not know to look for. The car starts and it drives, but loses power while trying to accelorate. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Could something have been done to that one loose sparkplug wire to cause this problem? If so, what would I look for?

If the check engine light is on, get the codes pulled to see if there is any directions there.....

If you think someone did this on purpose go check your exhaust pipe and make sure there isn't a potato ( or similiar) stuffed up there.............

All guessing with something like that - dammit! Perhaps mixing up spark plug wires to plugs was part of the sleazy idea. Since one was found loose I'd check firing order and anything that might be tampered with.

Get codes as Sidom suggested and whatever it takes to get this running right asap will help as it's hard on converters when running poorly,
