The light was coming on intermittently for past 6 months. Niece was driving on highway when light came on/stayed on and car stalled. Went to re-start but just cranks with no start. When she kept cranking tying to start it she said she smelled a burning smell outside the car. Just a note. L/F tie rod replaced a few months ago. Is it possible that mechanic 'disturbed' ABS wiring harness and it led to this. Looking back my niece said the light started to come on a few weeks after the tie rod repair. If the PCM detects an engine problem that affects the traction control system, it will shut the traction control system off. ABS system or it's components won't cause an engine to stall.
