1998 pontiac sunfire wont start

I have a 1998 pontiac sunfire 2.4l. the starter went bad so i replaced it now the engine rotates but wont turn over. any advice?

jellyfinch; Terminology, here...The starter was replaced because the engine wouldn't crank? Now, it cranks, but won't start? Is that correct?
