check engine soon light came on. few days later car began cutting out on highway. pulled over & it quit completely/had to be towed. it started next dsay. took to auomotive repair shop. they ran diagnostics, found nothing after 4days. got check engine light to go off and engine would not repeat behavior (charged me $152) few days later same behavior. starts fine, runs fine and then next time cuts out and dies. won't start again for 20 minutes then starts, cuts out a little and then runs fine for awhile. starter is fairly new, tried changing distributor (rebuilt), changed fuel filter, new spark plug wires, new spark plugs, new pcv valve, have been adding fuel inj. cleaner. check engine light has not lit up again. any new ideas?

you need to see if its not getting spark or not getting fuel at the time this happens. Otherwise everything tests out good even when it isn't. Can be quite a pain sometimes.
