hi i got a 1998 ford explorer.when you crank it,its runs very rough.it will not idle you have to keep you foot on the gas to keep it running.it also makes a loud sucking sound some wheere around the upper plunem.when you get it going down the road it will run,not great but atleast you can drive it but as soon as you stop it shuts off again.i had a mechanic look at it and he put fuel injectors,upper plunem off of a junk explorer new plunem gaskets and new plugs and wires.

that sucking sound indicates a large vacuum leak. One that big should be easily found by ear. Have a helper keep it running for you while you get your head in there to listen. Fix that and it should be a night and day difference in how it runs.
