Hi,
I am hopeful that you can help me. I do pretty well with the mechanical part of repair, but I am not good at diagnosis.
My 1998 Olds was running poorly, rough etc and I took it to a local repair place and all that they could find was that the fuel regulator was leaking some fuel into the vacuum line tht comes off of it. I decided to change it myself since they were going to charge $146, and the car died on the side of the road on the way home and wouldnt start.
I replaced the fuel regulator and when i tried to start it again it "bound up". I figured it might still have too much fuel in the cyclinders so I pulled the plugs and turned it over and it blew a lot of fluid out of one cylinder. (Back right as you are facing the engine). I cleaned the plugs and replaced them but it still wont fire.
I was told that you can get crossover issue when the Intake plenum goes bad so I replaced that and still did not get a spark. I have checked to see that I am getting spark on all of the coil packs and I am. I also checked to make sure the firing order was right.
I pulled everything all the way down to the timing chain and it looks OK, the two marks on the gears line up like they are supposed to.
I also checked the fuel pressure and it is at 50 psi. I did a compression check on all of the cylinders and they are all at about 115 and the cylinders do not bleed down.
I dont know where to turn now. A new PCM for the car is close to $300 and that is a lot of money right now. If I have to do that I really need it to work.
Any help would be great;ly appreciated.
