1997 nissan sentra dies at idle

1997 nissan sentra gxe 1.6 DOHC. it intermittenly dies when come to a stop or letting off accelerator to stop.when it dies it will crank but will not start,if allow to sit for about 15 minutes it starts right back up and can drive a few yards but will die again.it only does with the engine warm and is worse on a warm day or warmer temperture. now the longer you allow it to sit after it dies the longer it will run and drive before dieing again.it has been running fine,no problem.i stopped and got gas and about a week ago and when went to restart it cranked but would not start.allowed to sit for about 10 minutes and it restarted,temp outside was about 60 degrees.i drove it about 10 miles and it ran fine,pulled into a parking lot and stopped and it died,once again waited 10 min and it started and i drove it back home which was 10 miles.ever since then the problem has gotten a little worse,dieing more often in shorter distances. i have not performed any testing like spark,injector pulse or tested fuel pressure. i was just looking for recommendations.

Check engine light on? If so, have it scanned to see what codes are being stored. Write down the code numbers.

Use a spark tester at the end of the plug but if you really have to ask that question, this is going to be futile.
