1997 nissan altima coolant pipe leak Sign In

my 97 nissan altima is a 2.4 L in line 4cyl it sprung a leak in the steel coolant pipes I was informed that the repair was more expensive than the care was worth $ 1500.00 minimum for repair- other than the coolant leak the care is in very good condition NO Dents, very minor scratches and 3 rust spots size of a quarter. The engine runs fine. Need better rubber. need CV Joint and boot. IS the car sellable? what would you recommend? anyone please?-----milage is 144676 Frown

What is the deal with the coolant pipe costing $1500! I'm not looking at it but that should be an easy fix. A new half shaft doesn't cost all that much and tires are really as much as you want to spend.

Yes you can sell it, if it runs ok, could get an inspection sticker. How much - who knows. Check the valuations at the various sites - KBB.com Edmunds.com NadaGuides.com etc.

Were you counting fixing all this stuff for that $ or what? Hard to calculate rust repair,

T

I was told that the coolant pipe required removing the intake manifold and mechanic was unsure of what else may be involved- no nissan dealer close so dont really know what to do
