i have a 97 honda civic ex coupe. i was driving it on the freeway and there were up hills and my car had no power in 5th or 4th gear so i had to keep downshifting to 3rd. well anyways my car started struggling i pulled over and it just turned off. i cranked it and i cranked and it wouldnt turn on anymoreUnsure
i popped my hood and spark plug number one came lose and it was disconnected from the distributor and valve cover. tightened it down and it would start but it would rev weird till it finally turned off again. so i accelerated it from the air manifold to be able to get off the freeway to get it home. i got home turned it off and didnt turn on anymore. so i checked the timing and it was fine. i replaced the spark plugs. i checked the distributor , the timing sensor that under the bottom pulley. only way i got it to start was when im cranking the engine i move the distributor and it turns on but its steady for about a min and then it just turns off. so i disconnected the little hose from the fuel regulater i think and i turned it on with the distributer and the engine was steady but it stays at 2000 on the rpm gauge. i reconnect the little hose and the car turns offf.... anyone out there know what might be the problem? please and thank you

I suggest you stop creating new problems by moving things that you shouldn't be moving and have someone do some actual testing. The timing is not adjustable on this engine so all you have accomplished now is to throw the fuel injector synch out to lunch. All this will have to be correctly set again before you can find your original problem.
