Next step would be to do a compression test and also a vacuum reading at idle & 2500 rpm. A fuel pressure test wouldn't hurt either...........

If you could post the actually reading you got would be good. I'm always a little leary about "good" as a spec..

This is a waste spark type system, the coil pack has 2 coils in it that fires 2 plugs each. Usually if you have a coil, PCM driver or wiring problem, you'll have a problem on 2 cyls not just one. So while I wouldn't totally rule this out at this point, I would probably be looking in other areas 1st.

I like to run compression test cold and warm and then a running compression test as well to rule out any valvetrain problems.......

An ign misfire and vacuum leak misfire are very similar at idle, one way to narrow this down it run some propane into the intake while the engine is running (using extreme care & caution). If its a lean misfire, the propane enrichs the mixture and the engine will smooth out. If it's an ign or mechanical problem, the miss will remain......

Since your limited on your diag tools, a quick check you could do would be to get a can of carb clean and spray around the intake manifold area, staying close to the #2 runner area to see if you can find a vacuum leak. If you an get the idle to raise or the engine to smooth out then you're in the right area..........

I am lost, i got a vacum gage and i held steady 16 inchs, my son did the compression test and i do not know the numbers but he said they were right to specs. we put a new cam sencer just incase, we took nunber two plug out and grounded to block ,it has spark and it looks about the same as the other three,we took the injector rack out and crank the motor just to make sure it was spraying it was and it looks
the same as the other three. It may sound funny but we even took the valve cover off just to make sure the valves were going up and down.
I am lost we seem to have gas, spark, air, compression, vacum and it still will noy fire on two.

16" is pretty low. At idle you should be between 18 & 20. I would get a can of carb clean and spray around the #2 cyl area of the intake manifold and see if you can hear any hissing noises.

If you can get underneath and try to get the bottom of the intake as well......

My memory sux.....did you have any P0171 or P0174 codes?
