1997 Toyota Tercel 1.5 Oil usage

I have a 1997 Toyota Tercel, 210,000 mile never had an issue with oil usage until dealer changed it with 5W20. Could the weight of the oil be causing the vehicle to use oil or is there somethng else I should consider? Is this weight of oil to thin for the miles on my vehicle?

It very well could. I would change it again to 10W30
