This seems to be the week for this stuff and it's not even a full moon! Check to see if power even makes it to the starter solonoid on top of starter. Could be a few things like cleaning up wiring connections even when they look good they can be funky.

The good old tap the body of the starter with a hammer trick can be telling and it might start up for you. If so that is a good enough reason to replace that starter.

If no results - see it power gets to the smaller wire at the solonoid when key is put it start postion. Of course be careful as engine could just start up on you so stay clear of harm's way if you try that.

Hit back whith what you find and we can go from there,

T

Hey - thanks for letting me know your understanding of the vehicle itself. First thing is to not get hurt so when in doubt don't and get help.

Forgive me for not knowing the exact layout of every model of everything ever made by model year but I believe this is a rear wheel drive vehicle in which case the starter is down on the bottom on back passenger's side of the vehicle. If front drive it would be low in the front. No matter. It can be found by following the cable from the battery + (positive) should be red, cable and it will end up at the starter's solonoid. This get up looks like the size of the smaller coffee can but longer with another smaller unit on it's back which is the solonoid which makes the connection between the heavier gauge red battery cable (wood pencil or so size wire) to the starter. If you are sure you have found the right item and have a clear shot at it with a hammer to tap the body of it. Difficult to explain how hard to tap it. I'll try. About the force you might give a small nail to drive it if that helps. If you whack these like you want to smash it you could so don't go that far. If you get that far and give this a try - keep the keys out of the vehicle completely and then give it a try. If nothing and you don't think you tapped hard enough go ahead and give it another try. This may just work and does in a high percentage of these type problems. It's not a fix but can get you going to get the vehicle to where you want it.

I'll venture the guess that it will work and you are not going to replace the starter or dismantle the wiring to clean it up so be ready to take it where you want it to go as that may not work again. If this works expect to be advised that the starter needs to be replaced.

Being mechanically inclined is NOT a gender thing. Plenty of women can blow the doors off of men and most are more patient when things don't work out which is a big advantage as vehicles don't give a damn if you walk or ride and just accept that.

Do you need to fix this yourself if possible to save some money on this? Let us know and include what tools are available for you if you are going to do this yourself,

Hello jamielkane. Welcome to the forum. Click here and there is information about your starter. If you need further assistance, do not hesitate to ask. I admire a person who is willing to tackle a problem that is strange to them. Good luck and I hope you have really good luck. There are also some fusible links that can open and cause the same symptoms. Let us know.
