1996 Toyota Corolla DX Won't Start Sign In

Hello there. I'm hoping someone here can assist me. I have a 1996 Toyota Corolla DX with 210,000 miles on it. I left work yesterday and the car started fine with no problems. I stopped at the store on the way home, and when I came back out my car wouldn't start. I had no indication of a problem, other than some mildly rough idling while it was in gear which I believe is unrelated. The rough idling is not new - this has been going on for some time and is not bad enough that I've felt the need to correct it. Very minor. I appear to have full power, and do not believe it to be a battery issue. When I insert the key, I have full power to A/C, radio, dash lights, etc. But when I turn the key, the engine will not start. I do not hear any clicking, of feel the heavy drain you normally associate with a dead or dying battery.

From this and talking to a friend with a similar car, I believe the starter has gone out. I have a general idea how to replace it from my own (limited Cool) knowledge and from reading another thread here. I removed the A/C cleaner box and elbow, but when I look I do not see anything that looks like the starter. It's entirely possible I'm overlooking it in the jumble of wires. I tried to follow the positive battery cable, but it joins up with several other wires and they all run together. The few pictures I've seen online are of little help, because they don't really show me where the starter is in relation to other things.

Any assistance or guidance you can offer will be appreciated. Thank you.

Have you started with basics- clean the battery cables?

Sorry, should have said that up front. Still relatively new to this stuff. Most of my experience is on minor mechanical. Trim and doors, maintenance items like flushes and filters, belts and hoses. So this is a little more involved than I'm used to.

I've cleaned the battery terminals, and checked all of the cables as far as I can see them. I don't see any frays or cuts, and nothing loose. Checked the fuses and don't see anything that looks blown, although I know that's not a 100% accurate way to tell. I've also checked to make sure the cables going to the fuse box aren't loose.
