1996 Jetta sudden pull when driving

1996 Jetta Volkswagon, 2.0 automatic, 113 thousand miles.
when driving the jetta once jetta hits speed of 55 or higher when I let off the gas pedal the jetta jerks/pulls towards the right and then when I resume and put my foot back on the gas pedal to accerlate the jetta jerks/pulls again to the left.
when the car was purchased did not notice this issue both axels were bad, needed and were replaced immediately, can not see anything wrong with motor mounts.
So I was wondering is it the axels?
Is it the motor mounts ?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are brakes good, alignment with all front end parts checked and good? Tires even? Sorry all questions for now,
