Hi, just bought this '96 Intrepid, 3.5L auto, ES, 130,00mi. ran exceptionally well. Problem: Started in morning, run for a few minutes took off down road, started to accellerate, engine started cutting out, checkengine come on, no rpm change with throtlle movement, then engine quit, would not restart. checked for codes - no DTC's stored in PCM. I've done some preliminary tests for; ignition coil, cam sensor, crank sensor, fuel pressure, checked plugs - wet. Verified voltages to most sensors, with the limited test resources I have. Checked pin connectors on all components as possible,to verify connection, even at PCM. found no wiring burnt, broken, shorted or grounded, corrodid, from what I could get to. I pulled a plug and did a spark test, there is no spark while cranking, but slight firing on return to on position. Reinstalled plug, sprayed a little starting fluid in air intake, would somewhat try to fire while cranking. Don't know whether to spend time checking possible timing belt, jumped teeth, or if PCM has just plain gone bad!? Any Thoughts? Thanks, Flash

Maybe if you could give some more detail on how you tested these sensors and the results you got would help us narrow down your problem.... I'm going to be gone for a while but to help anyone else who looks at this. 1st check all your fuses and make sure they are all good and then moniter the engine rpm while cranking and report back if you had an rpm reading or not.............If you have a noid light, see if you have injector pulse.

Hey, Thanks for your response. Got thinking about why there was no spark, decided to check the timing belt, well !, guess what I found? The wtr pump went bad, seized and must have made the belt jump the driver side cam gear, it was out by 4 grooves. So I cleaned out parts of the belt that started to shred, replaced the wtr pump, timing belt, stuck it all back together and Boom! she lives. Runs Great!! Thanks Again for your response! BSFlash
