1995
Ford
Ranger
4.0L V6
175k Miles

After any longer drives that involve highway speeds(40+ minutes at 60+ mph) the truck idles very roughly, enough to shake the car until I rev the engine a few times. Problem has existed for a while but car has now stalled a few times when cold and overall performance seems down.

I have checked and cleaned the throttle body and it didn't seem very dirty. Truck also smelled like gas when it has a full tank but that may be unrelated.

Check the EGR valve and see if carbon is getting caught in the pintle preventing it from closing all the way. Try to do this while the problem is present.

Good idea HT. OP (original poster) I've had some luck cleaning up the pintle with carb cleaner and pushing it up and down on a block of wood if found dirty by eye. Should be easy enough for a try,
