Hi All,
Thanks for reading my post. I'll get right into the meat n potatoes.
95 chevy silverado 1500. 4.3L v6. 188K miles.
I was driving home from work, I heard squealing, I pulled over and shut it down. Couldn't start back up. the starter 'chugs' as it turns over, but to no avail.

I've noticed a little bit of squealing at certain RPM's leading up to this just beginning earlier this week.

I noticed when I was pulling over that my Voltmeter on the dash had began to lower, and I smelled possibly burning rubber? I feel like it is related to the serp belt or the tensioner. The belt was still on and intact. I was on the freeway @ 2:00 AM so I got it towed home and now here I am.

I was hoping you kind folks could give me a game plan to assist in diagnostics. I would really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!
Tim

EDIT: I suppose I should add- I live in Wisconsin, and we had a pretty darn cold winter so far this year, and I hadn't had trouble throughout. This passed week, when noticing noise, we had a bit of a heatwave (30 F, I use warm lightly).

You probably want to remove the drive belt and see if any of the driven components are worn out or seized.

sounds like an idler pulley, belt tensioner, or maybe the alternator pulley is seized up.

When sound and voltmeter changes show up check the alternator for burnout. Put a voltmeter on the battery and read 12.5 volts as a good battery, I would suspect a short through the alternator if it is not. Turn the engine and see if it moves to 14.7 volts steady, listen for screaming from the alternator, and smell it.
