1994 cavalier stalls after driving awhile Sign In

I replaced the head on 1994 cavalier 115,000 miles witha a 2.2 motor a month ago. Also replaced water pump, new plugs , oil change and air filter.
Drove for a week and was not circulating coolant so I replaced radiator. When replacing radiator I left transmission coolant line loose
and leaked oil all over while car idling. Tightened up line and filled transmission fluid back up. While my son driving ran good but when
came up to stop light it idled ok but when he stepped on gas it died. It started back up and did same thing three or four times.
I pushed car home and charged battery and idled fine. I test drove myself for 20 miles ran good. My son drove for 2 days and ran good.On third day he said it died same way at red light. When I got there to push him home I checked all fluids and were all ok and then I started up and started to drive home. Ran good until I had to slam on brakes to not run red light and I noticed it idled weird and when I stepped on gas it clunked and died. I started back up and tried reverse and same thing it died. I started again and it idled fine and when i put in gear it lunged forward and died. My son then pushed me with my truck and I idled car the whole time and when we got about 5 miles down road and stopped at red light I decided to try again and slipped into drive and it ran perfect rest of way home. The car idles fine runs good and then stalls but restarts but when you put it in gear it lunges and dies.
Please help!

Obviously this car objects to RED lights! Just kiddingAngelic

If there aren't any stored codes to assist perhaps check for a vacuum leak or even a problem with line to or vacuum booster for brakes - may have been disturbed with recent work??

There are quite a few possibilities, here. Basics, as Tom mentioned, to recheck all of your connections. The severe hesitation would make me think TPS (Throttle position sensor) or fuel pressure/supply issue, the idle issue IAC (Idle Air Control), the dying when put into gear TCC (Torque converter lockup solenoid). Seems to run okay when cold? And starts acting up after it gets up to temp? That makes me think of a possible TCC problem. You had mentioned that the coolant wasn't circulating, so you replaced the radiator...Is the cooling system okay, now?
Not overheating?
