1994 GMC Sonoma SLS 4.3L Vortec, 35,000 kms

So I bought this truck from my brother in law after it has done all the circulation through his family where no one had time to get it fixed up.
The truck was starting when my father in law first got it, it had no problems.

After sitting for about a year he gave it to my brother in law who changed the cap and rotor. He broke off a screw in the distributor cap that fastens it to the distributor itself. Now the truck ran fine after the advice from a mechanic who said that if it was tight enough he shouldn't have a problem. We drove it to my place and once we got it there, I came to a stop and it died. I could start it up but it would not idle at all.

After buying the truck off my brother in law, I have changed the plugs and wires as well as the cap and rotor but I was unable to extract the broken screw due to where it is sitting. I tightened it on as best I could and it seemed to be sitting on there pretty tight. Now the truck will not start at all.

Any suggestions? Hopefully I haven't been too vague but if you need more info just ask.

Thanks

Yeah, those little screws are very easy to break. You may have to pull the distributor to extract it. Now; Not starting; You need to find out if it is getting spark to the plugs and if it is getting fuel; Enough, or too much.
The 4.3's have problems with the distributors, injection leaks, and fuel pumps, so we need to narrow this down.
