I have a 1993 Nissan Altima It is a 4 cylinder and has about 108,000 miles on it. About 3 months ago it started to make a terrible squeal when I took sharp turns or first started it up. Within the last month however it would want to die and sometimes die on me at stoplights or when I took sharp turns. During the turns the battery light would come on. I tightened the serpentine belt and that make the squeal stop. However the dying is still happening. Also while driving at any speed (highway, street etc) the car starts to jerk and act like it wants to die while the rpm gauge rapidly increases then decreases again. usually it only last a few seconds. I've replaced the fuel filter and the spark plugs are clean of any oil.

On this one I would pull the cap and inspect the inside of the dist real good. Those would leak oil or if the optical plate got dirty or the cover was missing would give you some weird problems...

If the plugs and other ign parts haven't been changed recently, this would be a good time to do it.....

The distributor is clean it was also changed about a year ago so thankfully it's still clear. Spark plugs and fuel injectors were all changed about the same time as dist. I'm unfortunately not too mechanically inclined.. is the optical plate somewhere around the distributor? Thanks for the response. I very much appreciate it.
