I have a 1992 Honda Accord Lx with about a 188,000 miles on it. I love the car but I cannot seem to locate this problem I am having with it. On occasion (one out of eight attempts to start) the car will not start. During this tantrum, the check engine light will come on. If you pull the key all the way out, wait a minute, and try to start it again, it starts and runs but now has an additional problem. At this point, when you select D4 to drive the transmission acts like it wants to start in third gear and the air conditioning does not work. Even blows the air conditioning fuse. The car has been to a very reputable shop twice (owner has a radio show) and of course the car will not reproduce the problem. The car has been very well maintained. All Fluids new, new belts (including timing belt), hoses, wires, plugs, cap and rotor, fuel filter, air filter, valves adjusted, etc. I am at a loss. I pretty sure its electrical but do not know where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. John

Try to start off in D3. If everything is ok now, I would investigate a possible problem in the trans. range selector switch (neutral safety) or its circuit. Steve

D3 does not work either. The only way is to manually shift from 1 to 2 then d3. I tries to pull codes yesterday and the computer is showing none.
