I need help, my grand prix idles very bad and smells of gas. when you put the car in gear it dies can anyone help me?

Is this just plain leaking fuel somewhere? Check at fuel lines and fuel filter - could be rusted up there and leaking. Just a thought - carefull of course with the gas!
