1991 Honda Civic Engine Shuts off while driving

I have a 1991 Honda Civic, engine size 1600, 4 cylinder, RT 4 WD, Manual transmission, with about 185 k miles on it.
The problem is that after about 5 to 10 min of driving the Check Engine light turns on and immediately after that the engine shuts off. If I turn the ignition key to OFF and then re-start the car, it starts fine and usually runs fine for the rest of the drive (mostly it only happens 1x or 2x during a drive).
We replaced idle control valve (because it had idling problems), we also removed security gadget that we believed was causing the shut-offs. Obviously not :(
What do you recommend we check for? replace?
