A coolant temperature sensor that is bad can cause this.

trikemaker; You need to check fuel pressure. It may be bleeding off after shutdown, losing it's 'prime'. A quick check would be to turn the ignition switch to the 'on' position, wait a couple of seconds, then turn it off. Wait a minute or so, do the same thing. Then, do it again. Each time you do this, the fuel pump will run for a few seconds, building pressure. If it starts each time doing this, then you are losing pressure, somewhere. Could be a faulty check valve in the pump or an injector leaking after shutdown. Loren SW Washington

trikemaker; (autojoe, pardon my jumping in) The CTS is usually mounted near or on the thermostat housing. It will have two wires going to it. The temp. sensor for the guage will only have one wire and no effect on starting. Loren SW Washington

2wires are (tan)and (black).Check resistance and compare to ambient temp cold/resistance chart.I worked on 1 car with this problem.
